For The Love of PopSockets
Like many of us, my phone is attached to my hand at this point. I’m not proud of this per se, but its my lifeline to so many things - tv, movies, music, communicating for work and pleasure, even access to Google Drive and every photo I care about, ever. That being said, I have made my home very phone-friendly. One thing that has helped me do that seamlessly throughout my many moves have been PopSockets - this is a love letter to PopSockets…
My first PopSocket was the OG, the round sticker you’d have to place perfectly yourself. I loved it, but eventually it became frustrating. It wasn’t case swapping friendly or didn’t always match my case even when I bought multiple (there weren’t as many options as there are now). Most inconvenient, was that they didn’t slide into a pocket well, especially a pocket that is barely a pocket as it is - it was bulky and stuck out. I eventually decided to ditch the PopSocket regardless of how much I relied on the convenience, like the fact that I could hold my phone effortlessly or angle it like a mini movie theatre with zero effort.
While I was out here testing out phone case alternatives, PopSockets were hard at work. Fast forward a few years later and I discovered a new product from them that I would eventually buy more than 5 of - PopSocket Mounts! The Mounts along with their Slide Stretch PopGrips have been a total game changer. I have used them on my refrigerator, on my car’s dashboard, on my bathroom mirror and on the window over my sink. I’ve recommended them countless times and am now sharing that love with you. The convenience is unmatched, especially for the price - let me tell you why.
Super into:
How easy it is to install - the Mount is similar to the OG, its a peel and stick. You put the Mount on the surface of your choice (glass, stainless steel, tile, you name it) and let it set for 24 hours.
How small it is - its noticeable, yes, but it really is petite and not an eyesore at all.
The fact that the PopGrip is removable - this is the best part, you can get the convenience of using it without having to commit. No peel and stick required, you just stretch out the PopGrip to fit the width of your phone and it immediately tightens once you do to fit it all nice and snug.
The price - the Mount itself is $14.95 and the PopGrip is $17. Its a one-time cost for something you’ll use everyday.
Color options for the PopGrip - I have the white/clear (incognito forever) but they have options for this one that they no longer do in the Mount. In the words of Pretty Woman, “big mistake, huge.”
All the ways you can use this. I have used it for the following: streaming while I wash dishes, referencing recipes on it via fridge where its safely away from mess, on the bathroom mirror to listen to music while keeping it away from water and lastly, two words: bathroom selfies.
The fact that whatever adhesive it uses is insanely strong - this has never fallen, ever. Same for the PopGrip, never slipped off, its 100% secure.
Wish it had:
More colors still available! I bought the Mount itself in clear to be as incognito as possible and can’t find that one online anymore, wish they’d bring those options back.
The ability to be re-used - when you move (housing-wise or the Mount’s location) thats it for the Mount, the adhesive once its removed isn’t very re-stick friendly, sadly. If you try anyway, it will fall - don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Less quality adhesive - I know this sounds insane, and it is. When you go to remove the Mount, you will need a knife and the jaws of life. Its possible, but may take some paint and plaster along with it. Worth it!
